Bishop Jermaine N. Johnson, a native of Baltimore, MD, serves as the Senior Pastor and Founder of Word of Life Christian Community Church, located in Baltimore, MD. Through Bishop Johnson’s pastoral leadership, the Word of Life Church has embodied its mission and vision to be catalysts for life by serving neighboring communities through food distribution, offering health care screening, school resources, and much more. Bishop Johnson has led the Word of Life in the purchase and remodel of a church building and community center that continues to cultivate an atmosphere of growth and development for the community at large. With such great accomplishments in the local church, Bishop Johnson has been appointed as District Leader for the State of Maryland under the Global United Fellowship with Presiding Bishop Joel Peebles, Sr.
As a scholar, Bishop Johnson matriculated at Eastern University in Saint David’s, PA., obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication, followed by a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Care from the Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard, IL. Bishop Johnson also earned a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC. Bishop Jermaine N. Johnson is a Lewis Fellow Alumni of the Wesley Theological Seminary and received a leadership certificate from the American University in Washington, DC. In October of
2014, Bishop Johnson released his first book, partnered with a workbook entitled, “The New Wine Experience: A Leadership Model of Church Planting in the African American Context of Ministry.” Bishop Johnson has authored two additional books, “Back to the Basics: The ABCs of Leadership,” and “A 21 Day Devotional,” a companion reading for The New Wine Experience.
In October 2022, Bishop Jermaine N. Johnson was consecrated as a Bishop in the Lord’s Church under the leadership of the Founder of the Global United Fellowship, Bishop Neil C. Ellis. In March 2023, Bishop Johnson was honored to be a feature speaker at the Oxford roundtable for the Dietrich Bonhoffer Institute and because of his continued work in the community, and continued focus on Kingdom work, he recently became a part of the New Bonhoeffer Cohort of Fellows at The Miller Center for Interreligious Learning and Leadership of Hebrew College.
Bishop Johnson is honored to be married to the beautiful, Pastor Michelle D. Johnson, and is the proud father of one daughter, Zoe Imani Johnson.
